Consolidation of grown directory and authorization structures

Project: In this 9-month IT project we carried out comprehensive data consolidation and authorization management for 600 accounts. This included consolidating grown directory structures and 18 TB of data. Through the use of migRaven.24/7 Analyzer and migRaven.one We cleaned up 85% of old data that was older than two years and removed 60% of all explicit permissions. With a newly built directory structure according to best practice and improved authorization management, we have created a solid basis for efficient and secure data management.

Transfer of 24 locations to a data center

The project aimed to centralize the IT infrastructure of 1700 users across 24 locations by moving the data into a shared data center. During the 16-month project period, data assets and access authorizations were consolidated to create a more efficient and secure IT environment. The main tasks included the consolidation of domains, the cleansing and reorganization of data structures, and the introduction of an automated authorization management system (IAM).

Sharepoint migration for around 70.000 employees in 80 subsidiaries

The focus was on 32.000 DFS links, 3,2 PB of data and 28 billion documents. Challenges included the complex initial structure with authorizations only on the first level, a high proportion of outdated data and, in some cases, outdated data owners. Additionally, the initial structure did not meet SharePoint migration guidelines, especially for file types and directories with over 100.000 files.

OES migration for 2.800 users

During the 12-month project, 2.800 client computers were migrated from Open Enterprise Server (formerly Novell) to Active Directory. Numerous challenges were overcome: synchronization was established between non-integrated client computers that were only accessible via VPN due to COVID-19, overly complex directory structures were cleaned up, and inconsistencies in account names between Novell and AD were resolved. In addition, a new directory structure and an authorization concept were established, servers were added to the domain, an authorization management system was introduced and user profile directories were transferred to desktops.

Clean-up of Active Directory and file system

The project included the cleanup and restructuring of the Active Directory and the file system over a period of 24 months. The main goals were to revise a complex directory structure that had grown over 20 years, to redesign authorizations and to ensure audit-proof data archiving. Key challenges included dealing with structures and permissions that were too deep, long paths that prevented files from being opened, and a large proportion of outdated data.

Sharepoint migration for 24.000 employees

The project involved migrating the entire directory structure of 24.000 employees, 12.000 DFS links and 48.000 directories with explicit permissions, as well as 2,4 PB of data to SharePoint O365. There were complex challenges: a deeply structured initial structure with authorizations up to the fourth level, a high proportion of old data and some outdated data owner information. The solution was to eliminate 70% of irrelevant directories using the migRaven.24/7 Identify analyzers and redefine data owners accordingly. The migration then started with migRaven.one carried out.

Have migRaven.one to implement the user rights of a file server used by local Windows2000 users in a 2012 domain structure, 2 days of work together with an employee from aikux, 1 minute to switch off the old server and the thing was done - a top tool together with on-site support, it saves a lot of time, the authorizations are at the latest level (tidied up immediately) - what more could you want?

The aikux company supported us in the consolidation of company data on a Windows file server. In order to meet the requirements of the specialist departments, a new folder structure with clear authorizations was developed together with the technical consultants. Existing file links were adapted to the new structure during the migration. During the entire project, the aikux employees were always at our side with advice and assistance. Our requirements were implemented to the fullest satisfaction.
