Project
The project involved migrating the directory structure of approximately 70.000 employees in 80 subsidiaries to SharePoint O365.
The focus was on 32.000 DFS links, 3,2 PB of data and 28 billion documents. Challenges included the complex initial structure with authorizations only on the first level, a high proportion of outdated data and, in some cases, outdated data owners. Additionally, the initial structure did not meet SharePoint migration guidelines, especially for file types and directories with over 100.000 files.
challenges
- Initial structure deeply structured with authorizations only on the 1st level
- High proportion of old data
- DataOwer for directories were sometimes no longer up to date
- Initial structure did not meet the guidelines for direct migration to SharePoint
Limitations
First level permissions only; Unsupported file types; more than 100K files in individual directories
Solution
- Irrelevant directories with migRaven.24/7 Analyzer determined (rate 60%)
- Data owner about migRaven.24/7 Analyzer calculated and compared with existing system
- Prepare the structures for migration with Linkfixer (Linkfixer/ migRaven.one)
- Complete project management via migRaven.one carried out
- Owners independently planned and scheduled all migrations via migRaven
- structure over migRaven.one migrated to SharePoint
Project duration
36 months
